  1. I have a small problem and I was wondering if someone could give me a hand with it. I am trying to create a dvd with two movies on it split into 4 parts. I have imported each of the parts, each part is in MPG format ready for VCD. The disk size required for this project is well within the disk size of 4.4Gb. I set it away to do the project and it starts converting the files. It gets to 13% and then the computer crashs, no hard disk activity and no response to the mouse. I am running a 1.4Ghz Athlon, 768 Mb RAM, 60 Gb hard drive and 200Gb HDD partitioned into 3 60Gb partions (home machine). I am reading from one of the 60Gb partions.
I have tried the same process on a 1.4Ghz Athlon with 512 Mb RAM, 36Gb SCSI U160 HDD (work machine) and it worked fine.
There is one major problem I have thought about and that is my 60Gb C: drive is full of rubbish and needs a FDISK and Format. I don't really want to go down that road until I have tried everything else.
I think the reason why the second PC i tried it on works is because it doens't have all this rubbish on and the registry is clean and clear.
I have tried just using one of the MPGs for the project and this has been successfull on my home machine.
If anyone has any ideas of what is going on then please let me know as I will be very grateful.
Any other information can be supplied.

  2. Sometimes the registry can get messed up and the only way to fix it is to reformat and re-install Windows.

That's especially true of the older Windows operating systems.

  3. I have found a kind of work around for now. I can convert a single VCD sized mpg using DVD MovieFactory and then another and as they have already been converted it doesn't hang at the converting stage. I am onto the fourth mpg and it is hanging but I know how to solve that. Hopefully this method will work for the time being until I have the time to format and reinstall everything. Cheers for the reply.
