Hi. I was creating a stepfile (song) for DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) in StepMania. Anyway, I was working from a MP3 of the Nelly ft. Kelly Rowland - Dilemma (Jason Nevins remix) song which was originally 4:33 long and I trimmed it to 3:30. This is a dance remix version of the original song.

I want to synch the song to the music video (which was the album version of the song). The music video is 4:20 long. It was originally MPEG-1 (VCD). I converted it to AVI and removed the audio.

Anyway, here are my issues... The album version of the song has a quicker beat (both the words are spoken faster and the audio is faster). The dance version also has an additional 10 seconds tacked on to the beginning.

Here are some timing difference...

video
13.061 love you,
46.590 i met this chick

mp3
15.145 love you,
56.037 i met this chick

BOTTOM LINE:

1) I want to add two blank seconds to the beginning. This will synch up the lips at the beginning.

2) I want to slow down the video a slight bit so that the tempo matches the mp3. I can trim the video too to help out. The lyrics are not different between the dance version and album version. The singers sing faster in the album version.

Right now, this is what I think I should do but I don't quite know how to do it...
1) I should "stretch" or make slower the video to match tempo.
2) then trim the end of the video so that it is about the same length as the mp3
3) add 2 seconds to the beginning of the video so that the beginning of the singing matches the video to the mp3.

I was thinking of using Premiere to add the 2 blank seconds, and VirtualDub to trim the video, but I don't know what to do about the tempo (slowing it down).

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!
