  1. I have recorded two 30 minute programs. Actually I wanted to record for an hour, but forgot and had virtual vcr set to 30 minutes...so I had to capture them in two recordings.

Is there anyway I can combine those into one long file? I use tmpgenc to encode them for burning in dvd lab. It's kids shows for my daughter and I need it to play for the full hour, instead of having to start it again after the first 30 minutes.

    Thank you,

Virtualdub will let you join 2 avi files.

if you want to join the mpeg-encoded files, you can use TMPG to join them - go to File->MPEG Tools->Merge & Cut.

otherwise, depending on your authoring software, you could just import both files, and make a connection from the end of file #1 to the beginning of file #2, and it should play through. I know that DVD Lab supports this, among many others.

tmpgenc will combine two or more avi files into one mpeg file anyway -- its built it -- cce and mc do this also ..

    BJ_M,

How do you get two files loaded into tmpgenc at once? And what is the function/command that lets you merge them together?

The only merge I see is under the 'File' and 'MPEG Tools' and it will only let you load mpeg files.

Or do I need to encode both files separately into mpeg and then merge them with the merge and cut? If so, that brings the next question I'm using tmpgenc Plus 2.5 and it makes two separate files for each file encoded...one is mv2 and one is wav...would those merge the same as the tmpgenc version that just makes one output file?

    Thanks!

    name them like avi0001.avi ; avi0002.avi ; avi003.avi

put them in same directory .. tmpgenc will encode them all to one file (you can open up "source range" and you can scroll through and all will be there)

you have to make sure "open sequence files as movies" is checked in general options ..
