  1. I dont know why but lately it seems every other video has it's sound out of sync when I burn them. Sometimes its already out of sync but sometimes its not. I dont know if its while reencoding it that it happens or while burning or what but it's really fustrating! Can someone explain to me why this happens?

    Hello

We tend to like to help people around here but ...

You have provided no usefull information!

What is your source. How are you converting it and to what? How then are you burning it?

Please be more specific and maybe I or someone else can help.

Is the source file out of sync? Are there any bad frames? Did you check for bad frames? Is the mpeg out of sync after encoding? Does it play OK on your PC? Do you create a wav file and use that as your source?

    So many questions.........

I'll give you a little more info because I have been having the same problems too.

I have been starting off with Xvid's with film framerate and ac3 audio. I use vdubmod to extract a wav and ac3 machine to convert the wav to ac3.

I encode the video with CCE to mpv. I use pulldown to convert the film framerate to 29.97 then I use bbmpeg to convert the m2v to mpeg so that i can load into DVDA for authoring.
If I choose to use Spruce up for authoring I skip the bbmpeg step because it will accept the m2v file right from pull down. I suspect that I'm losing the sync because of the framerate conversion in pulldown but I was told by some one in the forum that the the length of the movie won't change with the framerate conversion so the audio should still be syncd.

The current movie that I am working with has a 20-30sec longer duration of audio and the sync gradually gets worse.

So far I havent burned any of these failed conversions since they are way out of sync. I may try TMPGE on the same movie but I like the speed of cce and I don't want to use PCM audio.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    VC
    This is so much fun!

It seems a shame to have to extract AC-3 audio from a video source (in your case Xvid) to a WAV file only to then re-encode into AC-3

I'm not familar with this process but surely there is a way to extract the AC-3 as is without needing to re-encode it?

As for the video ... I don't use CCE and only tried it a few times a LONG time ago ... my experience is with TMPGEnc Plus ... having said that I would like to point out that you can process JUST video with TMPGEnc and output as a M2V file. You then simply import the M2V and the AC3 as seperate files into SpruceUP. Just make sure both files are in the same folder and have the same name. Example:

    mymovie.m2v
    mymovie.ac3

Then when you import the M2V file it will automatically grab the audio.

It sounds to me like you are doing too much. First you get an mpa file (whatever that is) then use BBMpeg to get an mpeg and blah blah blah

Too many steps perhaps is what is causing the problem?

    P.S.
I like SpruceUP a lot but sometimes I use Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 and when I do this I use TMPGEnc to mux the video and audio to get a mpeg file as MF2 will not accept elementry streams. Again never had any sound synch issues. Have done this with both MP2 and AC-3 audio files.

    why oh why

defrag ya disk before conversion especially in Xp, indexing causes problems i don't know why but i found it to be the culprit.
also before you burn just use tmpg mpeg tools and mutiplex the whole file it cures it also if you have any queries send ne a line
