Burning newbie here. Looking through the DVD Media list I noticed that a bunch of the +RW media have the same media codes and yet seem to have differing comments re: quality, etc.
So the question is can you get different results from the same media code discs that are branded by different companies? e.g. Sony DVD+RW and HP DVD+RW appear to be the same media code so are they the same disc?

usually the media codes reflect which company manufactured the media. Many of those other companies don't manufacturer their own media, and as a result, you can have one company manufacturer media for several companies. This is true with both cd and dvd media.
Just one example of many are Imation and Memorex CD's. They are both now mainly produced by CMC Corp. There are many other examples with DVD media, but the answer to your question is that they are almost certainly the same type of media. If you can get one cheaper then the other, you should go for it. -
princo 2x discs have been known to be branded at TDK disks... basically Princo are illiegally branding their DVD-R 2x discs as TDK to make them work in some burners like pioneer A05
Because of this, I will never buy another Princo CD or DVD
