osex into dvdsp

I am having trouble ripping a track from a dvd to a m2v and then loading this file into dvd studio pro. when i try to add it to my project i get the message "ERROR: Bad Format. File: xxx.m2v"

What settings should i use in osex to get a file that i can bring straight into dvdsp? or is this even an option? i've tried changing the file extension to mpv and mov and the same error happens, and i've tried several different combinations of settings in osex.
