i posted this in the "newbie" forum, but got no help: i am looking to make artifact free (or mostly artifact free) svcds from mini-dv footage that i capture and edit on my pc. i use tmpgenc to convert my dv avis to mpeg2. i play my svcds on my pioneer dv343 dvd player, so i cant up the bit rate more than 2800 (well thats the highest i've tried so far, i know that 3200 and over is choppy). are there any tips someone can give me? i have tried "constant bitrate", "2pass vbr", and "constant quality". constant bitrate seems to yield the best results. does your pc's cpu have anything to do with the quality of the mpeg2, or does the cpu just relgate encoding time. thanks in advance
