  1. Please help! I'm a newbie to the computer world & nero seems simple enough to burn a vcd but, when I get to the point where it says "burn vcd" it prompts me to "save" on my computer 1st, then after I've saved it- then it does something for about 30 seconds & says "burn successful". When I check the disc, nothing is on there?! My computer only says "files waiting to be written to disc". Any ideas?

You should check and see if your CD drive is selected as the recorder. In Nero, go to the Recorder menu, then Choose Recorder, and make sure your CD drive is highlighted. If not, select it. If it's not listed, it may be that the version of Nero you have doesn't support your CD drive - If it's a newer CD recorder and an older version of Nero - I had the same problem with my DVD recorder, and I had to upgrade to a newer version of Nero. If choosing your recorder doesn't work, check out the Nero web site to see if your recorder is supported by your version.

  5. Well...I was just about to get excited when my recorder was supported w/the new version I had to download....the burn went smoothly & then when I put the cd back in to check the contents...grrrrrrr!
The only thing that was on there were folders "CDI" "EXT" "MPEGAV"..ETC.!? I don't know what went wrong. The video didn't seem to make it to the disc?

    Hello,

Those folders you described are the standard folders that most burning applications will put onto a cd when creating a vcd.

Have you tried the finished cd on a stand-alone DVD player?

Alternatively, have a look for a file called AVSEQ01.dat (or something very similiar) on the cd. This is the actual video file burned to the cd - the rest of the information burnt to the cd is so that it will be recognised as a valid vcd when you go to play it.

    Cheers,

    B.

  7. wOW! You guys out there are AWESOME! Strangely enough on my computer it shows nothing, but when I pop it in my dvd player- IT WORKS! Finally! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!
And, just to add my own experience...the files that I did the "drag & drop" from my browser list- were only playable on my dvd players. The files that I did a "right-click" and then went to "add files" and selected items that way- were only playable on my computer.
I don't know why or how but thats how it works for me using the Nero version 5.5.9.9+ .
So, thanks again to all who helped me gain my sanity back! Aloha!

For some reason (and I'm sure there are a ton of people on this site that could tell you why) but VCD doesn't put a .mpg file on the CD. You can use a program like Power DVD (and I guess Media Player) to open the files on your computer, but your DVD player will recognize the video files. Glad you were able to make a successful VCD
