  1. Hey guys, my mother asked me to research complete home theater systems for her. And I'm having trouble trying to find ones that play [S]VCD so I decided to post here for some help. If anyone has any information on them please reply. Oh, and she's also looking to spend <$300.

    Thanks,
    -Fattie

  2. I don't think you will find very many "complete home theater systems" for under $300. If you meant DVD player, than most players these days are including official SVCD (or at least VCD) support. Its not like before when the first safe bet that came to mind was Apex.

I bought a Sony STR-K740P system on sale at BestBuy for $279 (I think the normal price was around $500). This is not a top of the line system however it really made a difference in how I hear my music and movies from now on. It comes with a powered sub and five other speakers. I run my TV, DVD player, VCR, and computer sound through this system.
