I've seen many posts asking how to backup a dvd with only the movie and the menus, well here you go.![]()
Tools needed:
DVD95COPY
An original dvd to backup that YOU OWN 8)
DVDPlayer (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.)
(*NOTE*: You cannot use a different dvd9-dvd5 program like DVDShrink or IC7, they will not accept movies with missing files.)![]()
Assuming you have the dvd ripped to your HDD, lets get started. Open up the VIDEO_TS folder, right click on an empty spot and click "Arrange Icons-->By Size". This is the easiest way to find the extras. Most trailers are from 150mb to 450mb, and featurettes can be over 2gb in some cases. Open every "VTS_X_XX.VOB" in PowerDVD. When you see a file that is undesired, delete that file. But do not delete the "VTS_X_00.VOB", which is usually around 250kb. Keep deleting these files until you have only the desired titles. If your dvd is now under 4.38gb congrats, you can preview it in PowerDVD and burn it. Otherwise, open DVD95COPY and select the VIDEO_TS folder you just edited. Choose only the basics (english DD5.1, english sub) and choose your destionation and start. When its completed you should have a 4.35gb folder. Before you burn it, check it out with PowerDVD to make sure it's working right. When you're satisfied burn it.
***It is also possible to delete icons in menus, like the special features button with a tool called MenuEdit. I have used it 3 or 4 times and I haven't had good results. It has messed up the menus and deleted visibility of the all buttons in my dvds. Other people have had success, but because of my problems with it I no longer use it, and I can't reccomend it.
Please respond and tell me what you think.
Smart-ass spelling and grammar corrections are also welcome![]()

If seriously, I'm a bit surprised to here that someone had such big problems with MenuEdit. I wander what version have you used. Why have not you posted anything in
MenuEdit thread on Doom9?
There was no issues reported on the quality of the job MenuEdit does for a long time.

Dimad.
