  1. Since purchasing my E30 recently I have looked on Panasonic's Australian website recently to check which DVD-RAM discs are compatible with my recorder. When I follow the links I get to http://www.panasonic.com.au/catalogue/list.cfm?cat=5_1
which shows that I can use:
    3 pack 120 min DVD-Ram Discs (Model: LM-AF120E3) 4.7gb and
    240 min DVD-Ram Disc (Model: LM-AD240E) 9.4gb

However, I have seen elsewhere (and even on Panasonic's site) that there are also some other discs that are supposedly for data ie. - as per Panasonic's site again ( http://www.panasonic.com.au/catalogue/list.cfm?cat=43_6) "DVD Media Preformatted for Data" - these include
    9.4 GB DVD-RAM REM. CARTRIDGE (Model: LM-HB94F)
    4.7 GB DVD-RAM REM. CARTRIDGE (Model: LM-HB47F)
    4.7 GB DVD-RAM DISK,Jewel Case (Model: LM-HC47F)

My question is this - can I use these "data DVD's" for day to day recording of TV programs on my E30 or are they only usable in PC based recorders? The data DVDs are significantly cheaper than the other (non-data??) ones here in Australia so I would love to use them if I can.

  2. They work. You will have to format them in the recorder because they are formatted for a Ram drive. The other ones are just pre-formatted for the DVD Recorder. They both clearly state that they are also for Video Recording (I have both).

  3. Thanks for the response.

    Excuse my newbie questions, but:
How long does formatting of a DVD-RAM disc take in the E30?
I'm also interested to find out how long "finalising" a DVD-R takes.
