  1. I've been trying to Convert a Very long WAV file to AC3 with version 006 and now with ver 007. I always get this error sequence in the terminal:

MEncoder dev-CVS-030226-15:00-3.1 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS)

    AltiVec found
Reading /Users/man/.mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/Users/man/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
Reading /usr/local/etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/usr/local/etc/mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
    Using built-in default codecs.conf
    File not found: 'frameno.avi'
Reading config file /Users/man/.mplayer/mencoder: No such file or directory
    success: format: 0 data: 0x0 - 0x3E17502C
    Audio file detected.
    Audio file detected.
sh: line 1: 607 Bus error

Then everything stops and that's it.

The file come's from a Quicktime converted AIFF file. I'm trying to increase the gain as DVD studio PRO APack lowers tremendously the sound track level to my movie.
Its almos 1GB long as it's the mixed track from a 94 minutes DV feature. I did the Editing on Sys 9 with now defunct EDITDV/Cinestream (the best editing program for the Mac ever done). While the video uses RADIUS DV codecs not available on OSX, howevere the Audio Codecs is quicktime AIFF so this shouldn't matter.
I am lost here. I used succesfully ffmpegX to convert DVDs to SVCD and it never gave me any problems. However I cant put my own movie to DVD because of this very low volume sound problem.

    Any hints?

I'm using a Powerbook G4/800 and an IMACG4/800 OSX 10.2.6 with quicktime 6.2 and no frills (standard DEV stuff installed)

    Thank you

    Dat Ting

  2. First select the MP3 quick preset, then change MP3 to AC3.
BTW. When encoding mpeg-2 you can also use the "audio gain" control in the audio tab.

  3. Well now I get this:

  4. You've clearly not selected first the MP3 preset from the Quick presets. Try again.
