  2. MF2 sucks at muxing...You'll need to do your converting in TMPGenc and then drop your files into MF2. Other than the mux problem, it's a pretty good app.

    Man,

Your gonna have to post a few more details if you expect people to help. I've been having problems with MF1 & 2 for a while. Some films I have downloaded, DIVX, SVCDs XVID get converted to a DVD compliant MPG but after authoring in Ulead, the audio and sync are out. I have no idea what is going on and it only occurrs on some films and some VHS to DVD conversions.

Going back to your problem, is the film in sync in the original source?

Red, you arte spot on Ulead on the whole is great, and that's why I really want to find the root cause of my synching probs.

I do all my muxing in TMPEnc, and the result is always synched. Its Ulead (sometimes) that buggers it up. Any ideas ?

    Cheers

I haven't used MF2 since upgrading to DVD Workshop. Does it have the "Do not remux/encode compliant files"? I had that problem in WS, but finally RTFM and learned to adjust the settings.

  7. Supreme...

MF2 has the built in feature like WS has for 'do not convert compliant files'. I think that, 1)the option is not selected 2)he's not using TMPG to make compliant files, 3)the files are corrupted and hang while converting.

    Here's what I would recommend:

1)use TMPG to encode to compliant files
2)when you start MF2, make sure that the 'do not convert compliant files' is checked...I don't remember where it is...you'll have to wonder around until you find it.
3)use VDub to scan the files for errors PRIOR to the conversion. If you run into corrupted frames...get rid of them and resave your file

Hope this helps a little...converting files IS easy...but sometimes it's just a PITA

  8. Ulead has patches on their website for Movie Factory 2 to fix the audio/video sync issues. And there are also patches for MPEG issues (?) I was using Ulead Movie Factory 2 to create VCD DVD disks and I could never get the playback to work properly due to the audio/video being out of sync. I went and downloaded the patches, and it fixed the problem. I am now able to fix anywhere from 3 to 5 movies/videos on one DVD without any sync issues. *YEEEEHAWWWWWW*

  9. I was having a problem too and someone suggested I use a program called enditall to close all background apps when using Movie Factory 2. I've burned many a DVD with it and have yet to have a problem with sync since I started using it.

WHERE!???? I have looked at their site. All they have is:

1.3 Update patch (MENTIONS NOTHING ABOUT FIXING AUDIO SYNC)
1.3 AC3 powerpack (NOTHING ABOUT AUDIO SYNC AGAIN)
    Mpeg VIO Update patch
1.2SE update for Canopus device devices

None of these fix up audio sync.

What i want to know is how on earth can a software company make a program with such a huge and annoying bug, try to charge a hell of alot of money, don't bother publicising a fix to it, and then ignore people's tech support questions??

Does Ulead MovieFactory convert .AVI files as well? I have a bunch of seinfeld .avi files and want to put it all on one DVD. Does the app do that fairly easily? Thanks in advance for any info.

  16. ULEAD offers three DVD authoring programs.

Hence, the location of the updates can be confusing.

    1. For Ulead DVD WORKSHOP, download these updates:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm

    2. For Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, download these updates:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm

    3. For Ulead DVD PictureShow 2, download these updates:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/dps/dps_ftp.htm

To ensure audio sync, I recommend use of the Ulead MPEG.Now codec instead of using 3rd party encoders.

This codec was developed by Ulead using the Main Concept SDK.

    To enable advanced encoding parameters:

    On a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer, simply click MY COMPUTER>C: DRIVE>DOCUMENTS & SETTINGS>ALL USERS>APPLICATION DATA>ULEAD SYSTEMS FOLDER>ULEAD DVD MOVIEFACTORY FOLDER>2.01 FOLDER>DVDMF (INI FILE).

Then type ADVANCE=1 under the [VIODRIVER] heading.

    Save the change.

    Then reboot.

When you open Ulead DVD MovieFactory afterward, you will be able to enter the DISC TEMPLATE OPTIONS and click a new ADVANCED button that appears under the COMPRESSION tab to access a new array of custom encoding parameter choices.

So does this apply for us Win98/98SE users as well?

  18. There should be a method to enable the options on a Windows 98SE/ME computer as well.

Since I haven't used those operating systems in ages, I hesitate to give step-by-step instructions.

But the technique should be similar.

  19. DON'T BUY MF2!!!
    Their support sucks big time!!!
In fact, there is no support for their products.
Go to their forums and read a few post, you'll see.

  20. So I guess you cant use TMPGnec to convert, or the sound will go out of sync with MF2. None of the aforementioned updates cures the audio sync problem.

  21. Personally, I don't recommend third party encoders.

That doesn't mean they can't be made to work.

Often the causes that lead to audio sync issues are introduced - unknown to the user - during the workflow associated with 3rd party encoders.

I base this on my experience observing the workflow of individuals and the step-by-step methods they employ.
