Hello, and thanks to all for a very informative site.

Rest assured, although I am recently registered and this is my first post, I have been a lurker for some time and have usually found answers to all of my questions by searching.

I think I know the answer to this question as well, but am looking for both confirmation and possibly additional suggestions.

I am attempting to back-up several of my DVDs and am running into trouble.

I am using DVD Decryptor, I use file mode and am able to decrypt all files to my hard drive with no problems.

I then use DVD2One to re-encode the files using “movie only” also with no problems. I am able to watch the entire movie from the Hard Drive using PowerDVD with no problems.

Here is a list of the files that exist after re-encoding with DVD2One.

    Video_ts.bup
    Video_ts.ifo
    Vts_01_0.bup
    Vts_01_0.ifo
    Vts_01_1.vob
    Vts_01_2.vob
    Vts_01_3.vob
    Vts_01_4.vob
    Vts_01_5.vob

I then use CopyToDVD to create a DVD-R or DVD-RW. The DVD plays in both my standalone DVD player as well as both DVD Drives on my PC. However:

The problem lies with the very last file (Vts_01_5.vob). This file is the correct length for the last portion of the movie, but it is not the correct portion of the actual movie, it is actually the beginning of the movie and only lasts as long as the last portion is supposed to. So when I actually watch the newly created DVD-R, let’s say Braveheart for example, the movie will play properly for 2 hours and 40 minutes, then replays the first 5 minutes of the movie, then ends. The last portion of the movie is missing, no credits, etc. Restarting the movie will produce the same results. I can access the Vts_01_05.vob from the newly created DVD-R, and it is indeed the first several minutes of the movie and not the end as it is supposed to be.

Since I am able to watch the entire movie properly from my Hard drive, but not the DVD-R, I am assuming the problem lies in the CopyToDVD step. I am also assuming that the problem is somehow caused with the fact that I am still running Windows 98SE and the FAT32 issue, although each individual file is considerably less than the 4 GB FAT32 limitation, and CopyToDVD is supposed to be compatible with Windows 98SE (according to their website).

Any suggestions as to what is causing this issue and a possible cure would be greatly appreciated. Do you think that upgrading to Windows2000 would solve this issue? I would prefer to NOT upgrade to WindowsXP. And if possible, I would like to continue to use Windows 98SE, as I am familiar with this OS and change can be scary.

Thanks In Advance for any and all suggestions!!

Give Nero a try,it always works for me. I have used CopytoDVD occasionally with good results. I'm running WindowsME so I doubt Fat32 is the problem. CopytoDVD does cache the complete DVD to a tempory file that it burns from and then deletes, your problem could be in that area.

    Thanks for the suggestion wulf109.

I have the updated version of Nero, but I am unable to use it with my Pioneer A04. The software is actually bundled with a CD burner, and won't allow usage with the DVD burner.

I forgot to mention that I can burn fine using RecordNow Max, using the re-encoded DVD2One files along with an empty AUDIO_TS folder, and have done so many times. Disc will play properly on both stand alone and PC.

Any other suggestions on how to get CopyToDVD to work properly?

    Thanks in Advance!!
