I've been searching through the forums a little bit and I'm still a little confused. . .

I have WinDVD with Windows XP Office - My computer is only 2 months old. My DVDROM is a JLMS XJ-HD 166S

WinDVD says that I have 4 remaining Region uses left. Going to the DVD Genie page, it says something along the lines that if your DVD ROM is RPC-2 you can't use their software - How do I find out if it is RPC-2? It says that after Jan. 1st 2000 all DVD ROMs are RPC-2 so I'm assuming mine is, but how do I find out?

I notice that a lot of other people use WinDVD and can use the software. . .

Basically there is a Limited Edition DVD coming out soon, I want it, but I can't play it in my DVD player so my only option is to play it on the computer. I don't want to buy it if I am only going to be able to watch it 1-3 times..

Or, would I be able to buy it, then rip it to my hard drive and burn it as a vcd? and be able to watch it as a region free disc?

Problem is that I can't download it to test because I do not have any other DVDs around that are not Region 1 . . .

I do not want to use that firmware stuff because I'm not willing to kill my DVDROM

So if anyone could answer those questions that would be great
