Assuming that all settings are the same, is there any difference in the encoding quality or speed between CCE SP and CCE Basic?
SP costs close to two grand, while Basic is only 60 bucks. I don't think that 2+ multiple pass encoding and the ability to edit the quantize matrix are worth $1,900, so I'm assuming that SP is better and faster.

i think it's unlikely they would use a different core in the different versions.
i believe SP actually has lots more features, such as the manual VBR adjustment, extra passes, custom matrix, fixed GOPS etc etc. basically, the basic version is adequete for someone making backups for themselves, but for finer control of a saleable product, you need the additional features of SP.
