  1. I have a Pioneer A05 with the hacked 1.30 firmware. The drive has been working fine with no problems. DVD's burn fine. Then out of the blue, the drive has stopped letting me burn (S)VCD's as well as BIN/CUE files, or even a 1:1 CD copy. I have used the latest Nero along with a myriad of other burning programs and all return more or less the same error message, along the lines of Could not perform start of DAO recording. Could someone please save me!! I'm tearing my hair out over this. The strange thing is that initially I could burn Bin/Cue's etc with the new firmware (on the same brand CDR's) with no probs and then suddenly I cant.

  2. I'm having the same problem except I'm just trying to back up some files to a cd-rw. I haven't burned any SVCD's since I got my Pioneer DVR A05. When I go into "My Computer" my A05 says its a cd rom when there's a cdr or cdrw in it.

  3. Are you trying to burn data on to a CDRW?

  4. Yes, I am. I have over 1600 family pictures on my pc and want to save them to cd-rw so I can give my mother a copy. Every once in a while I would make a new back up of my pictures and trade out with my mother. I have backed up everything in "My Documents" to a dvd-rw, which includes my pictures.

  5. Hmm, strange. I have had no troubles backing up data to CDR/W. Only with (S)VCD, disc images and 1:1 CD copies....

The hacks are not perfect. This is the kind of error that occurs. Bad part is that many times even flashing to original formware won't fix it, but give that a try.

This is why I advise against hacks.

Visit firmware-flash.com and post there about this issue. Maybe NIL or Flashman or Gradius or somebody is aware of the issues and/or a fix.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
