  1. I did download TMPGEnc 2.511 on top of the 2.510 I had, but even though I got a registered copy of the previous version I ran 2.511 and it said I couldn't use it because the "evaluation version expired". I guess I get the feeling I can't upgrade from 2.510 so I put my computer through system restore and I have 2.510 back, so I now have to wait until a better TMPGEnc comes out that can allow me to do a upgrade without any problems.

    Anyone else encounter this?

I have no problems upgrading, just installed the new version without de-installing the old one. Absolutely no problem there.

I guess these are more like updates - bug fixes and such. I would think the next trial to be around v2.6 or v3.0.

It doesn't upgrade if you download the "stand-alone" version. You must download the installer release

    Version : 2.511. 2003/4/28

Fixed: Adding too many chained files, would cause the program to close.
Fixed: On systems where Windows Media Player 9 is installed, reading MS MPEG-4 AVI files via the "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader" would cause an error to occur.
Fixed: Multiplexing MPEG-Video stream without a sequence end-code would cause the PTS time stamp of the picture included in the last GOP, to be invalid.
Fixed: Multiplexing a closed GOP MPEG-Video stream without a header would cause desynchronized video and audio.
Improved: Improved the processing of the file so that, if possible, securing and releasing the memory of a huge block is not repeated..

  6. Spidey, I just did so...actually, I made a duplicate file of the previous edition of TMPG Encoder to protect my investment, and overwrote the new TMPG Encoder on top of that, but still I keep getting the same thing..."Evaluation period expired", even though I have a registered version of the previous TMPG Encoder. I think it's got bugs indeed.

I've always used the zip version (installer version is too much bigger for me to want to download). I just unzipped 2.511 on top of 2.510 and my registration is still good.

  10. The installer release provided by spidey worked for me.

    Thanks bud!

    Hello pals,

TMPGenc 2.511 is bugy. When I let it encode about 78 minutes CVD from avi file, it get stuck. It happened few times, so I went back to 2.510.

    Take care

Just did "Antibody" in DVD2SVCD using the new TMPGEnc. It seems to work a *lot* faster than previous versions of TMPGEnc, and the quality of the finished product (done on "highest/slowest" settings) was very good --- CCE quality with no macro blocks, pixelation, etc..

Definitely worth checking out --- kudos to Tsunami!!

  13. I tried both ways. One way I get an evaluation version. The other way I get an eval on the mpeg2 encoder

If you read carefully, you will see that there is an upgrade version and it says" this upgrades, and will overwrite files, to install newer version", or something to that effect. No problem with the upgrade. I do agree that they are not as clear as they should be about the upgrading, and that someone could easily download the wrong file. But, it does work properly.

  15. pepegot1, where did you get this upgrade version? I can't find it

    Thanks in advance

  18. I tried to upgrade from 2.510 to 2.511 using both the installer and the self-extracting file. Neither one worked and I was always shown the evaluation period screen after opening the program.

Well, I downloaded the latest version of the self-extracting file and did some experimenting. Just keep the executable file of TMPGEnc version 2.511 in your folder and delete all of the other components. Then, copy and paste all of the missing components from version 2.510 into version 2.511's folder. I then opened the program and was no longer shown the evaluation screen. The serial number was correctly displayed this time.

This may or may not work for you, but it's worth a shot. Also, be sure and make a backup copy of your previous version for safekeeping. That way, if it somehow doesn't work, you still have your original.

  19. that way worked for me too, how can we be sure its the new version?

NO one should take offense here since no accusation is implied or intended
towards anyone. This is for information purposes only.

I found out from a good source that some of the most commonly widely distributed serial numbers up to version 2.510 of Tmpgenc Plus were rendered invalid with version 2.511. If you have purchased a valid key but it is not being accepted then you should complain. There could be a mistake or maybe someone distributed your serial and it got caught in the sweep.

My copy updated cleanly and without any problem.

This may not be the only reason why someone is having problems but apparently a lot of software companies have eliminated many commonly released serials with their latest updates and they could have made some mistakes in the cleanup.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  21. I am assuming that my version of TMPGEnc is the current version (2.511) because of the screen containing the version number and, also because the serial number is displayed correctly. If any changes or modifications were made, you would assume they would have been made to the actual executable file itself. Other components may or may not have been changed or modified, but the core of the program is the updated version.

I tested it out on Dark City and had no problems whatsoever. The movie looks good and sounds great!

I tried to upgrade from 2.510 to 2.511 using both the installer and the self-extracting file.ON Win98s ok is working perfect. But on Win2000pro sp3 is rebotting the O/S ? ALWAYS. I did return on 2.510 plus .

I think is a bug on it ?

I downloaded the new version and have tried it out. I used the previous version and had no problems. Now with the new version I am having problems with the audio encoding. I am using DVD complete and it can't find any of the audio files. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but has anyone else had this problem? I am probably going to go back to the previous version.

  26. You guys are suckers...use Cinema Craft with the avisynth plugin. It will take a while to figure out the scripting but it's WELL worth it. Cinema Crafts Multipass Quality is 5X better then TMPG and did i mention 50% faster. Trust me i've encoded over 400 videos avi's, dvds, mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg4, anything...and Cinema Craft with the avisynth plugin takes the cake!!

  27. Where can I download the previous version of TMPG, 2.510? I had it, but reformatted the computer about a week ago, so I need to download it again.
    Thanks........
