  1. can you tell me of the best way to rip dvd to vcd and svcd.by best i mean fastest tried some of the guides and they work but very slow at encoding.is it possable to do it with virtualdub? if so what setting do i use to encode it to vcd and svcd? or is there a guide to do this? if so where?i woukd like to use virtual dub because i can set it to do a list of files on its own and walk away from it. unless there is another program that can do this as well?

Vdub does not convert to mpeg, which is what you require and what TMPGEnc does. DVD2avi automates ripping and encoding, it requires TMPGEnc or another encoder to be pre-installed. Here's a guide: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/d2a-svcd.htm

  3. bottom line, there is no fast way. The faster your computer is, the faster it will encode. video encoding is a very intensive cpu hogging process. If you want quality, then it will take time.

I've heard that increaseing your CPU cache in TMpegnc will boost your encoding time. Not to sure about that, haven't tried it myself yet.

  5. You say you want to use Vdub so you can give it a list of things to do then walk away. Do the same thing with TMPGenc. Give it a list of things to do then walk away. Granted, if you give it too long a list you'll need to stay a way for a WHILE, but it'll be well worth it.
    Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART???
