  1. Is it possible to put MPEG 2 files (intended for dvd) on a cd, and make it playable? I realise this would give me 15 min/disc, but it's all I need.

  2. If you use nero and create new svcd and then drag the mpeg file to it , it should work

  3. Some DVD Players allow you to play single files...I know some APEXes do.

If you are looking to author this MPEG-2 file and make a DVD on CD, that's called a mini-DVD which is supported by a minimal amount of DVD players (check the DVD compatibility list, I can confirm that the Apex AD-1200 can play these). You should be able to fit about 20 minutes or so on a standard 700MB CD-R.

I have Video Studio 6, and by selecting the Make DVD function, but using a CD-R, it makes exactly what you are talking about, a fifteen minute DVD quality video CD-R that plays on a DVD.
