  2. The receiver isn't the problem if you can play regular CDs through it. The most likely source of the problem is that the DVD player doesn't play mp3's. More and more do, but not all by any strech of the imagination. Does your doccumentation say it should play them? If so, does it give any restrictions on what media?

Finally, check the DVD Players list at the right. Sometimes a player is supposed to play things, but as you will see from the listing they don't always. Then it's a decision on your part, is it worth taking back for mp3's?

The other issues are more subtle. What bitrate are your mp3's? Most standard ones should play, but some machines again can be pretty picky. Also are your mp3's standard or pro? A lot of players don't support pro. It is supposed to be back compatible but I don't know from personal experience.

The last issue is that a lot of players that play mp3s are pretty picky about the file stucture. I'm presuming from your post that isn't the issue, since you say you can play thme but no sound.

see if your mp3s are 64 or 128 bit. If so, they should play fine, if your player supports mp3. Most of the new dvd players support the higher bit rate mp3s like 256 and up.

Try re-encode them to 128 or 64 kb/s and they will propably work. My samsung s-224 refuses to play anything else.
