I know there are programs to convert DVDs(VOB, IFO,etc.)to Mpeg and compress them to fit on a CD(DVD-to-MPEG is one of them).

But that is NOT what I'm looking for.

Are there any that just make a 1 to 1 conversion, WithOut significant amount of compression in size during conversion to Mpeg-2 on my hard drive?

  2. I don't think there is as I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. The suggestions seems to be to demux the .vob file in VOBEdit and remux as a VBR MPEG2 file in TMPG Tools and hope it doesn't go out of sync during the process.

You know, that just seems so strange that someone hadn't made a program for that. I would think it would be as "simple" as Authoring-in-reverse.

  4. DVDLab (it seems I'm always singing this song. Sigh) will take VOBs and demux them into .m2v and audio without changing the compression in any way. As it's an authoring program, you can then use the MPEG file and audio to create your own DVD any way you want.

    OK, Thanks

While I was waiting, I just found this too:

    http://www.mpeg-converter.com/dvd_to_mpeg_converter.htm

(It might be the easy thing you where looking for too, Energy80s. It seems to indicate it is very easy and fast also)

  6. That MPEG Converter is actually an encoder. Really all we need is something to strip the unwanted DVD header info out of the original MPEG2 file and re-assemble it to its full length (rather than in 1Gb chunks). De-Muxing & Re-Muxing will achieve this but audio sync is always a problem, and it won't go above the 1Gb limit.

vobedit will demux the streams, as well as span multiple ts' if so desired
