I have a Sony Camcorder that records in Vob format. I copied the original files from one of my disks to my computer, then erased the disk. Wish I hadnt done that.....if I still had the original disk, I could easily use the Sony Picture motion software to convert the files to mpeg.

However, I dont have the original. Is their a program that can do this? I tried PE 3.0 and the results were horrible. I tried vob2mpeg and some others like it, but did not get a good result.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

  2. What does "did not get a result" mean ? Can you be more specific? vob2mpeg doesn't re-encode so I can't imagine worse quality...

  3. vob2mpeg doesn't change anything in the video, it's just the original in a new wrapper. any complaints about the quality would be in the original also.

I keep getting a Finished processing 0 subsets message. I directed the folder containing vob sets to the folder that contained the vob file itself. Do I need to direct it somewhere else?

I clicked start 10 times and it keeps saying finished processing 0 subsets.

Does the folder I direct the program to only have to contain the VOB files, or does it also have to have the iso, bup, etc files?

  7. just vobs will work if they are numbered consecutively.

Im directing the program to a folder that only has one vob file in it and its still not working.

Any other programs that will do this for me without quality loss?

I tried renaming the file with the extension mpg, but when I played that file, it acted strangley....fast forwarding itself, then stopping, then fast forwarding again.

  9. You can try appending with mpg2cut2

or avidemux (set video & audio to copy, format to mpeg2-ps)
