APPLE 2x DVD-R
Work perfectly. EVERY SINGLE TIME. No frisbies, no problems, these discs will outlive them all. The are Pioneer-made discs but are half the cost. A 5-pack for $15 is a great price for the quality you'll get.
You'll get what you pay for, especially in media.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
I'm gonna have to second the vote for Samsung BeAlls... they are amazingly compatible, fairly priced, and they even look kinda nice!

TDK 2x, do they even make a 4x????
Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge. -

How about ESBuy golds?
A bit more expensive than the silver, but I like the gold color.

LEAD DATA features dependable 1X Burning
and for .79 delivered, what's not to like?

It is listed. Apple is made by Maxell (MXL) They were made by Pioneer (PVC), but not anymore. Maxell branded media can be had for about $2, so your paying $1 to have Apple's logo on your disc.Originally Posted by txpharoah

I've heard TOO many bad stories about Princos and how they don't work after 6 months because of the dyes used.Princos
Optodisc. Burned a hundred over the past week with no coasters. -
Even though they use the same organic materials..hmm..strange...I've heard TOO many bad stories about Princos and how they don't work after 6 months because of the dyes used
I've been using Princos for more than 6 months. Still play fine

Ritek 1X: bought 100, got about 6 coasters, 3 caused by bad software (PS8, stop using it to burn DVD), 3 got scratches on it so burn failed.
OptoDisc: bought 30 in jewels case, no coaster so far.
Both are very reliable. No coaster due to bad media, except for the obvious scratched ones.ktnwin - PATIENCE -
I've used Imation+RW, Sony+RW, Philips+RW, Packard Bell -R, but mostly Verbatim -R (2x and 4x) and +R. No problems with any of them except some printable Verbatim -R x2 that some standalones were a bit choosy with.
Suppose I have to wait until I get a coaster.Regards,

I've had good success with Optodisc. Have burned about 50 with 2 coasters. Price seems to be the best for this degree of quality.

I'm curious -- if the Apple 2X discs (which I also use) are made by Pioneer, how come the info pulled off the disk says "MXL RG01" which is the identical code for branded Maxell 2X discs?Originally Posted by txpharoah

BulkPac G3 everytime. (purple)
Optidisk RWKeep going till you get it right!!! -
As with a few others here, my favorite isn't listed -- Samsung BeAll.
Bought 100 of them with no problems -- not only burning but playing on dozens of different brands of standalones. I certainly wouldn't pay any more than $1.70 (the price of the Samsung) for anything else."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
I use optodisc blue. I have burned 250+ of these discs on my Sony DRU-500A and have not had one not one coaster. Plays on every DVD player I have tried(about 10) and on my XBOX. Also they all burn at 2X.

When the packaging changed from full cases in boxes to slims in thin boxes, the media changed from Pioneer to Maxell. I had hundreds of the originals, just now started buying more. If they truly are Maxell, then I guess I'll just buy Maxell. But the Pioneer discs are still better. They have now left the media creation business (now branding other people's disc), and they will be missed.Originally Posted by LaddI'm not online anymore.
