  1. hi can anyone please help me i have downloaded numerous .avi files and converted them to dvd however the latest file will not let me strip out the sound as a uncompressed .wav.
i am using virtualdub and it says that the audio is 48000hz,2channels,sample preciscion 0bit,compression unknown(tag2000).
gspot tells me that the audio is ac3(0*2000)
can anyone advise me what i need to do.

You can keep the audio as ac3(dolby digital) or convert it to wav or mp2.

Convert it to wav with virtualdub and headac3he, www.dvdrhelp.com/virtualdubaudio (or goldwave). Then use tmpgenc and convert the video and the pcm/wav to dvd

To keep it as ac3 you skip converting it to wav in the guide above, instead just rip it with virtualdub and then fix it with ac3fix or beslice. Then convert only the video to dvd and after that you author the dvd with a authoring tool that accept ac3 like tmpgenc dvd author.
