  1. I am using DVD Workshop to author a DVD containing several NTSC Film MPEG-2 files. I have applied "Pulldown.exe" to embed the 3:2 pulldown flag in the file headers (with prog_seq set as interlaced and prog_frame set as progressive, no other options selected). Based on a trial burn on a rewritable disk, they play flawlessly.

Unfortunately, DVD Workshop reports the duration of the MPEGs as 35 minutes, even though they are all around 45 minutes. When I try to set chapter breaks, its pretty much a crap shoot as to where they will end up (ie. I set a point at 5minutes, the thumbnail is grabbed from a point that is later in the MPEG). In addition, I am unable to set chapter breaks past the 35minute mark. When I play the file from inside DVD Workshop, the time counter seems to be fine up until the 35minute mark. The file keeps playing normally to the end, but the clock just sits at 35minutes.

I tried to set the chapter points using a 35/45 reduction in the timeline (ie. set a break at 7min:46sec to get the authored DVD to break at 10minutes). It didn't work as well as I had hoped (plus it made my brain hurt ).

I have found a few forum posts regarding Windows Media Player and several other authoring programs misreporting times for NTSC Film MPEG-2 video. However, I did not find any mention of the problem occurring in DVD Workshop.

Is there a workaround for this? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    DW

  2. i had the same problem once,
the only thing that worked for me was to convert the movie again, but this time to make it 29.97 (ntsc).

i dont know why, but ulead doesnt seem to like 23.97.
maybe you can try and patch it with dvdpatcher as if it was 29.97,
but i think you will get a black screen and wont be able to make the chapter points.
HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE
