    ok..heres my situation..a friend made me a vcd, now i copied the *.dat file to my HD and used VcdGear to convert to *.mpg...problem is when using Windows Media Player i get no sound...but i have sound when i use WinDvd...can anyone explain please??

  2. You need to install a codec for Windows Media Player to play the mpeg audio. WinDVD has its own built in ones and will not "share" with Windows Media player. Check the tools section here for mpeg and DVD codecs you can install for Windows Media Player. But to tell you the truth, you're better off using WinDVD. It is more reliable and has more features anyway.

    ya i'll try that, its just that most of my friends(who im tryin to share the file with) dont have WinDvd, just WMP

  4. What you need is Moonlight Odio Dekoda for mpeg audio and mp3 files. It is free but I cannot remember exactly how I got it. You might try the Elecard website, because I think it is by Elecard. This is I believe separate from the the Elecard mpeg (video) decoder, which used to crash my WMP.

    actually i just installed the Mpeg layer 2 audio decoder for WMP and it worked fine for me now..thanks though
