  1. My first captures/encodings were done with no noise reduction used...they would have needed it that's for sure..and the latest I've done with Tmpgenc's noise reduction have been superb in comparison to my "newbie" conversions....so is it wise to perform noise reduction to something that is already encoded into mpg..or should I just re-capture the tapes to avi and re-encode using noise reduction ?

  2. To my knowledge...applying a NR filter would mean you must re-encode the video also...and re-encoding means quality loss.

    You can seperate the video and audio. Then convert the audio to wav.
    Then edit the wav using a good audio program.
    Then convert back to mp2 and re-mulitplex with the video.
    It's better to sort out why you are getting poor audio in the first place tho.
