No. The worst that could happen is a bios flash, and that's if and only if you burn some 2 MB ISO file, then boot your player with the disk in it, and it's the right flash routine, and it's malicious.

Only if you get it wet and leave it out in the cold for awhile.

  7. Put it this way, I would be more worried of the boogey monster coming and taking your DVD player than of it getting a virus.

Moral of the Story: Very, very, very low chance (1 in Billions)

I would think the only virus worry you should have is on commercial dvd's that have dvd-rom content on them... I seem to remember some major studio sending out the first pressing of a movie with some dvd-rom stuff, and it had a virus in it... but of course I can't remember what movie...

but that would affect your computer, not your set-top player.

How about having a "sticky" saying myths about stupid things people believe ........

Yes, I remember.... when I was a lad, that my Amiga could get a virus in the clock memory, yeah right, and I believed it then, as much as I do now !!

You had one of those too? Mine looked like a big pepperpot with wheels. I blame the Black Haus myself.

  12. You should have absolutely nothing to worry about... that is of course only if your dvd player is up to date on all of its immunizations and shots. Take it to your family physician if you're not sure how long it's been.

And what's wrong with propogating myths? The RIAA & MPAA do it all the time!
