You can search the chinese web sites that have all these neat name brand portable vcd players but I can't find any at Walmart. Whats the deal? Are they pieces of !!!! or can they hook up to a TV and play reliably.
I want something very small, cheap (so if it breaks or gets stolen I won't be too distraught) and battery powered. If so, like portable cd players I'm sure they have some that need to be avoided and some that perform better than others. Any info would be thoughtful Thanks

Any DVD payer producer that chooses to pay Philips the licencing fee should work for you.

I have one one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000632FZ/itvonline-20/002-4349628-0384012
I'm not advocating the seller just using the link for demonstration purposes. I own one and it works very well. It it fits your needs then search for it for the best deal.
