  1. Hey,

I converted a xvid (23,976) to dvd (25 fps) but i can see it when i play the movie. The audio is sync but the movie seems the still a few millisecs every few secs. I know when you have want to make a svcd or vcd you don't have to change the fps but when making a dvd you need 29,97 or 25 fps.

Any1 got an idea how i can get rid of the pauses..

    Yf

From your post, I'm assuming you are using TMPGenc.

The DVD standard, just like the VCD and SVCD standards, requires 25 or 29.97fps PLAYBACK, but you can still encode at 23.976fps.

In TMPGenc's video tab you will see an option titled "3:2 pulldown while playback" under the encode mode setting. If you encode in mpeg2 at 23.976fps, with this option enabled, then it will add a flag to your stream which instructs the dvd player to convert your movie to 29.97fps as it plays. Encoding at 23.976fps rather than 29.97fps is about 15% more efficient, and it is how 99% of commercially produced NTSC DVDs are made, well with some notable exceptions.
