  1. hi all,

recently a friend asked me to convert a dv footage into avi and mpeg 4 format. i've digitised the footage and export as avi files.

however, how can i convert the avi to mpeg 4?

i don't really know what he meant by mpeg 4 format and have read up the articles here to find out more. should i use divx codec (video) and mp3 (audio) as compressor?
i have aready downloaded VirtualDub software and uses Divx 5 and lame mp3 codec. i save the file as avi. but i get a poor quality video as to compare to my avi file using inteol 5.01 codec. is there any thing wrong with my conversion or i should expect it to be like that.

basically he needs the file for handphone MMS purposes and i'm not sure i'm on the right track with the mpeg 4.

sorry for the little info that i have.

    thanks.

U can also try Divx with AAC

By the way, which phone supports mpeg4 video? I'd like to have one too.

And, u can have better quality video by upping the bitrate. Use "1 pass quality based" with the quantizer value set to 2 (100%).
