I have two computers, one has Win 2000 with an ATI AIW card on it the other has WinXP on it with a regular video card and they are networked together. My problem becomes when I capture on the Win 2000 machine with Ulead DVD Movie factory, the capture comes out excelent. When I try to convert with TMPGenc on the Win 2000 machine I get washed out colors, more like brush strokes, rather than the clear crisp capture that was captured. When I put TMPGEnc on the Win XP machine I have no problems. I would use the Ulead program to convert, but it loses A/V sinc. I dont mind converting threw the network, but 4 hours to convert a 1 hour program is a bit much. Any help would be appreciated.![]()

What are you capturing?
four hours encoding one hour of footage using the excellent TMPGEnc is not unreasonable.
I'd consider using Virtualdub for captures, I have audio/video sound sync issues when using Ulead MF (and Pinnacle Studio 8 for that matter).
My process is as follows:
1) Virtualdub captures 720 x 576 PICVideo 19/20
2) Studio 8 for editing and saving as avi
3) TMPGEnc for encoding; DVD PAL MPEG-2 720x576 25fps VBR 8000kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps)
4) Ulead MF 1.0 for authoring
5) RecordNow Max for burning to DVD-R.
This, for me at least, produces flawless results.
Of course for DV I drop Virtualdub and use Studio 8.

Lastly, and this is just my opinion, I would put the AIW in the fastest machine with XP and use that for your video requirements.
That might not be practical for you and I know from this site some people (not many!) rant on about 2000 being better than XP for capture (from what they base this on I have no idea, neither are built specifically for video capture, editing, etc).

I am recording to AVI and converting to MPEG2 for use on a DVD. There is no AV sync problem when I use TMPGEnc to convert, however, when I convert using the Ulead Program there is, even thoe the capture went perfectly. When I put TMPGenc on the same machine as the video capture, (Down Side) it washes out the video, (Up side) is it cuts the process by about 30 minutes, but because of the wash out I still have to use two different machines. I need to find a way to prevent the washout , on the 2000 machine, so I can use only one machine for both capture and converting. I really don't want to use XP if I dont have to, as I have found a special hack that works for 2000. I do appreciate your replies, and thanks again in advance for you help.

I am trying to create a dvd from an AVI. I read that it is possible to encode audio seperately from TMPGEnc could someone provide me with help on this. I have encoded the the film but the audio will not play when I load the file in MyDVDdit the message that the audio codec is not supported even though I have the codecs when I check the film codecs with Gspot

neiltaxi, you shouldn't hijack someone elses thread this way. Post a new thread and you'll get better results
beric3236, your problem may be due to a codec issue. Insure that the codecs in use on both systems are identical. You can do this via the control panel, using the 'Sounds and Multimedia' option. Select the hardware tab, find the Video Codecs, highlight it and click properties. This should show you which codecs are installed, and what versions they are.
The other possibility is simple the settings your using on the TMPGenc install for one machine are different than the settings on the other. An easy way to find out, is to save your settings as a TMPGenc template, and use that same template on the other (xp) machine to see if the affect is reproduced.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
