is it possible to get any better audio on a vcd than just stereo????
like dolby surround would be sufficient, as i see ripping dvd to vcd as an alternative to buying the movie on dvd, and since I have an awesome audio set up inc a dts amp, it would be nice for a svcd to sound as good as it looks. and is it worth it in bumping up the audio quality settings to a higher bet rate as some of the movies my mate has ripped sound a little bit tinny when played back through good speakers and an amp as appossed to computer speakers??
cheers

This topic has been discussed many of times..try doing some research first...in a phrase, no 5.1 DD is not pissble in VCD, 5.1 multichannel mpeg is possible in SVCD (but good luck find a standalone receiver that has mpeg2 audio multichannel decoding)....Your best bet, regular dolby surround.
try searching this forum under "dolby surround", "miniDVD", or "5.1"
