I guess this is the right place in the forum for this question...
Got the card, It's pretty cool.
I can view the pc on my tv, I can view mpegs and Avi files fine on both the PC and the TV, Unreal Tournament 2003 (the only game I have) works fine, But when I play streaming video, real video files, and worse yet, when I use the tv tuner on the card, I just see a black window on the tv where there is video on the pc.![]()
Bummer. Not cool if i can't watch tv on my tv. If I capture it and play it back, it will play on the tv, but not while I am watching it.
What Am i missing here?... I tried updating my drivers from ATI's site, but they just screwed everything up so virtually nothing would work, so I uninstalled them and re installed off the disk. Back to square 1.
I hope some of you knowledgeable folks can help. Thanks in advance for any input.
Oh yeah... I'm Running XP if that makes a difference.

EDIT:
Correction... some streaming video will play... but only if it is Windows Media Format. It actually seems That Windows media player is the only thing that will let video show up on the screen of my TV.
I just tried a video in DivX player, ATI's Player, and Real One and all I got was blackness... Tried the same file in WMP, and it works fine.
AAARGH!..............The frustration sets in.................

That happens when the tv is set to secondary display. Try setting both tv and pc to primary and it should work. If you can only set one then set the tv to primary to watch vids and then change it back after.
I have an AIW card myself, and I don't think you're suppose to be able to set both tv and monitor to primary, however after installing the updates and whatnot I was able to. Not sure if its suppose to be that way or if that's a fluke. -
Thanks. That works.
I can't Set both to primary, but That's a step in a better direction.
Do you know which updates you installed? (the most recent ones, or older ones?) -
Many applications won't display on the 2nd monitor, doesn't matter if it's a TV or a Computer Monitor.
Anything involving DirectX (as in Direct Show and Video Overlays) the 2nd dispaly will have issues.
A workaround I used for ATI cards was to flip primary/secondary when i wanted to watch TV out. Hopefully you won't crash during this (it will re-boot to the TV...lololol). An easy way to do this is run your desktop at 640x480 (really sucks doesn't it?), then when you flip you won't be missing your toolbar and icons. Sometimes 800x640 works. You can do all this in under 30 seconds, so it's not that big a deal.
I could get TV out on the secondary monitor (TV) by NOT maximizing the window (maximized went black), just make it more than full screen (make it bigger than the screen by moving it around then dragging it bigger, thei way you don't have to see the player border). It worked for BS player and PowerDVD, but not for Media Player. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
In the display tab under the advanced menu you can set it to save your current configuration AND set a hotkey for it. That's what I use to do before I was able to set both to primary. Make one config with monitor as primary and set a hotkey of like ctrl-m and then save a config of the tv being primary and set a hotkey to ctrl-t. Then its easier to switch between them. No need to ring up the menu, just hit ctrl-t or ctrl-m.
However when I was able to set both to primary it did offseet my monitor. I simple used the monitors manual controls to recenter and shrink it to the right size. That was a year ago. All has been well since
