  1. Hi,

For some reason two of my previously OK DVD-RWs failed to erase under Nero. Now it 'knows' that they are not blank but is unable to erase them whichever setting I use.

Are there any utilities which might help here? I guess I need the software equivalent of UV on an old eprom! (sorry showing my age)

    Thanks,

    Mark

Age is irrelevant in this universe, even if I remember erasing uveproms myself.

Anyway, you don't mention whether you had installed any s/w that may have come with your burner...

In my case, with the Sony +R/-R 500UL, it came with the RedordNow s/w as part of the software bundle. When I bring up that s/w it has an erase button near the right side of that app's window.

    That's how I erase (continually) +RW's that I use.

I would think you may have such ability with whatever bundled s/w you may have. Maybe install it if you haven't and look around some.

Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.)

  3. Hi,

Thanks for the reply but sorry if I was not clear. I was trying to erase the DVD which I have done before using the standard 'erase' facility. Unfortunately it did not work - I think it may be related to me not having rebooted after upgrading Nero.

Anyway the long and short of it is that I have two useless discs and being a tight git I want to try and save a couple of quid befire turning them in to coffee-cupo coasters.

Have you tried different burner software - such as RecordNow Max ? You can d/l a 30 day full functional trial version - if it works great (and carry on using it to burn ! - Nero IMHO accounts for a high percentage of problems in this forum ..)
