Does every one beleive that artists should be paid on a royalty basis? I mean every time a song (or other medium) is bought, played or listened to, the artist gets money, even if they are dead.

I disagree with this method and here is why. I dont get paid royalties for my work that I do for my company and I ddnt sign the rights to it away. So if I do a piece of work for the company, they paid me a few hundred bucks for it, but it might be used many many times in the company of lead to something bigger and the ideas and concepts widely distributed. I dont get any of that, so why should joe blow artist. And please dont tell me the quaility of the music or whatever will go down if we dont. The quaility of corporate work hasnt gone down.

    Any thoughts?

Of course they should get royalties. And you did sign your rights to your work away when you went to work for your company. If you are so good at what you do, in my opinion you can always go in business for yourself and your company cannot do a thing to stop you. Besides I like thinking that if I catch, e.g., Aliens on TV, Sigourney Weaver is getting paid for it again.

what you do is called a work for hire (or something like that). you don't own any of your work. the company does. you just get paid for working for them.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

Exactly, unless you sign a contract with a company before employment stating otherwise.
Generally(and it differs from state to state and country to country)anything you develop or write at work is their property.

Weaver probably doesn't get paid. Most actors' work is work for higher. They're paid for the job (though they're paid a LOT sometimes. Unless the contract states a percentage specifically.
