I'm hoping that I got the right forum for this topic. For some strange reason, when I perform the multipass, nth pass encode, I am suddenly "low on memory" (when the video is about 85% done, and I always end up with a 313 MB file). When I receive a message saying I'm low on memory, the encoding stops. This problem occurred, while using either VirtualDub or TMPGEnc. I have 512 MB DDR RAM, an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU, and plenty of space. I'm assuming that it's one of those memory leaks issues or something. The usage of RAM goes up fast when the encode is about 80% finished.
I use version 5.05 bitrate of 2100, and a resolution of 720 x 480.

Technical issues aside, a bitrate of 2100 at 720x480 is going to look like crapola no matter how many passes you do.
Having said that, and running XP, you should never have a RAM issue. It sounds like the whole file is sitting in RAM, and it shouldn't do that. Make sure your swapfile settings aren't messed up (no swapfile, or a swapfile too small could cause this). Do you have enough space on your drive? To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Well, only C: partition has the swap file thing on. Initial is 768 MB and the Max. is 1536 MB. The file with the videos isn't on C.
Yes, I have enough space.
