Please excuse me if this isn't the right forum - hopefully someone can offer some suggestions though.
A while back I got a Sony DRU-500A(X?). I had a really high success rate burning the K-hypermedia DVD-R's that were on sale at the time at Office Max. They burned great, but would freeze in places on my standalone. I saw after the fact that the K-hypermedia discs aren't the favorites of a lot around here...
However, the Ritek's seemed to get great reviews. So I ordered

These just came yesterday and I decided to try them out. Went in to burn a disc like I always do - in Stomp RecordNow Max 4.5. Selected data disc, dragged my VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders into the program and clicked record. The drive ejected the disc immediately and said it was a bad disc (disc 1). I figured that since it was the top disc in the pack, it might actually be bad. So I tried another Ritek (disc 2). Same thing happened - disc ejected immediately. At this point I suspected the discs weren't really bad, but that either Stomp or my drive don't like the Riteks.
So, I tried burning a Ritek that Stomp had rejected (disc 1) in Nero using the UDF data mode making sure the version was 1.02 (as suggested on this board). In the past, I've successfully made DVD videos through Nero using this method. Nero didn't spit the disc out like Stomp did - and went through the whole burn (I burned at 1x). But, the disc wouldn't play in my standalone JVC player.
At this point, I suspected maybe firmware was the culprit - my drive came from the factory with 2.0c on it. I updated to 2.0f and tried to burn in Stomp again - same deal, ejects the disc immediately. 1.0f seemed to be a popular firmware, especially with the support for the Riteks at 2x. So I downgraded the firmware to 1.0f and tried another Ritek in Stomp - once again, the disc is ejected immediately when I tell it to record.
To add insult to injury, I just this morning figured "screw it" and tried to use Stomp to burn to one of my few remaining K-hypermedia discs - and now Stomp is rejecting those, too!
Any thoughts or suggestions of things to try? If I've left out any necessary information to help diagnose the problem, just let me know and I'll post back. Thanks in advance for any help.

I had this problem with RecordNow, and I remember that one setting was changed to continue session or something like that, fail to burn, but if I change that to the option to create new session (don't have the software in this machine) it burn the DVDs ok.

Use Accus they are great on a 500a (meritline.com lists media by writer type)
"Nero using the UDF data mode making sure the version was 1.02"
Huh? Nero is 5.5.10+
Also what firmware you got on your 500a? Get 1.0g or better
