  1. Help. i recorded a bunch of footage for a school project with a Hi8 camera and tape. I was going to bring that camera to school but we dont have analog video in, we just have Firewire. How can I get all the video from my analog source on a D8 tabe and camera without re-shooting it all on a D8 tape?

Using a Sony D8 HandiCam DCRTRV240 NTSC. The Hi8 camera is at my house (where I am not) so I dont have the specs handy.

  2. The TRV-240 has video in. So it is just a matter of pluging one camcorder to the other and dubbing it to a digital 8 tape.

But the TRV-240 accepts Hi-8 tapes, so you can leave it on the high 8 tape. You can then use the TRV-240 to transfer the video to a computer.

All digital 8 cameras are backward compatible to Standard 8 and Hi8 cameras. Therefore, unless there is something else that I don't understand here, you should be able to insert the tape made on the Hi8 camcorder into the D8 and have it play back fine.
