bout to BUY TDK DVD+RW need help PLZ quick noob Question

TDK IndiDVD AID+420N DVD+RW Drive: 4x DVD+R/2.4x DVD+RW, 16x10x40x CD-RW, Internal IDE with Nero Software

i know no one likes explaining stuff to a noob all over again but i think i can answer my own question,

can someone just correct me if im wrong plz, i really need to know by tomorrow

k, the +-RW formats only pertain to the blank dvd you are going to burn, the original dvd has nothing to do with these formats and all that matters is if your dvd rom supports the burned DVD format, so if your dvd rom supports +rw then getting the above burner is worth it and it will burn exactly what i want it to burn

im using the word burn very loosely here, but i know that it requires software to shrink.... and some time to actually burn the dvd,

so am i right? plz correct me if im wrong

ok how about just correcting me about this: i read the guides on how to burn dvd's and the only place the +- is, is usually at the end when it tells you to burn, so after you burn it you will have either a +r or -r dvd(depending on dvd burner, not dual format), and the only way it will play in a dvd player is if your dvd player supports the format

my friend thats into the svcd's was freaking me out about the format saying that unless its dual format it wont work in most dvd players and that you cant burn everything...blah blah blah

but thx to you guys what do i care now, my Apex AD1500 supports +rw so im gonna get the dvd burner i mentioned above

If i were you id get the sony the tdk comes with bunch of problems so take it from someone who went through it all get the sony you get what you pay for...................

the only one i can get is the TDK one listed in the first post, it will only cost me 200cdn thats why its my only choice,

from the review i've read here people have good things to say about them, i know that the TDK doesn't read i think blue or dark colored cd's, thats the only negative thing i read about them here,

what kind of problems did you experience?

The TDK Indi 420 is great! I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it's 50 times better than that crappy NEC1100A that Dell puts in their computers.

the only problem i see now is the cost of burning

if you shrink/burn an entire dvd movie onto a 4.7gb cd, is there a noticable difference in quality?

also, here are the dvd cd's i can get a a rather cheap store where i live
prices are canadian

anything over a £1 a disk is ok in my opinion i have not found a bad disk for less than that but thouse prices you are quoting are for top named brand stuff you can get gr8888 disks for a fraction of those prices

and i got another 2 sitting right next to me


now, onto burning dvd's, i checked out the guides and there are besically 4
i like the quick one that takes as little as 30min, but it says there is quility loss, i was just wondering it anyone uses these methods https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9

and is the quility loss noticable? is it like an svcd after or is it still better?

oh and this is all for burning onto one cd, i might consider using 2 cd's/movie once i get used to using the burners.

The picture quality is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than SVCDs. The DVD movies that I have burned so far (about 30 or so) have all been just about the exact quality as the original DVD.

which method do you use, is it one of the ones in the link above? and you use one cd right?

i just got dvdxcopy for free, so i wonder if anyone has any experience with that program (good, bad, stick to guides on this site instead...)

I first use DVD Decryptor, then use DVD2ONE to make it fit onto one disk (movie-only option), then I like to convert it to an image file with IMGtools, then I burn with RecordMax 4.5

But there are MANY different ways to do it, fiddle around with the different software to see which one you like best for picture quality, options, and how long it takes............and choose what works best for you. You are going to have a bunch of people on this board saying that their way is the best and all the other ways give you bad quality......don't listen to those morons.

Different strokes for different folks, simple as that.
