  1. This process works for my Panasonic DVD Recorder. Sure beats buying any expensive video capture card.

    1. VHS, TIVO, Camcorder (PLAY) input into the DVD-Recorder (RECORD). (DVD-RAM) (However long it takes the video to play just like copying a video tape)

    2. Put the DVD Ram into the Computer and copy the VRO file to the hard drive. (30 mins for file to copy)

    3. Run TMPEG DVD author program and import the DVD-RAM VRO File. (VRO is Panasonics MPEG2 DVD-RAM Format)

This program is able to take VRO files and recovert them to the files needed for a compliant DVD format.

Honestly takes me 2-5 minutes to edit the content and create chapters.
This runs for about 12 minutes converting the VRO file to all the files needed to burn to a DVD. Menu and Chapters.

Will have to draw up some instructions on using it but its really self explanatory.

    4. Use Nero Express and select all the files created by TMPEG DVD to burn the DVD.

Thats it. Now this is how easy it should be.

But then I just added the job of taking 1000 home videos that I want to archive.

  2. Thanks for the info, this is just what I want to do with Panasonic (DVD-RAM) gear and wondered what the best/easiest software was needed to do the job.

As a complete novice any other tips (ok I probably mean an idiots guide )would be useful if you have the time.

  4. Does this work with a 4hrs video clip? I tried to do the same thing with some "American Idol" episodes I recorded and TMPEnc DVD told me that the "Bit rate was wrong for DVD".
