If it's an avi, you can try to open it with virtualdub. In the file open dalogue there is checkmark to "popup extended open options"

You can then select "redrive keyframes" it will be slow but wait til it's done.

Then once its done choose "direct stream copy for both the video and audio menu selections and then save the avi to a new name using save as under the file menu. This will be very fast.

You can also recompress the video and audio if you want to but then you choose full processing audio and video modes instead of direct stream and choose the compression codec settings for both the audio and video.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

    PS

I just noticed that you may not have audio.

Sorry... If there is no audio then select "no audio" in virtualdub under the audio menu instead of direct stream copy"

  7. You don't say what the file appears to be "cap.avi" or "cap.mpg" or "cap.temp".
You might try renaming the file.

    Other possible options:

    1) Do a GOOGLE search under "avi fix repair" some shareware and freeware software is available that you may be able to try.

    2) Contact the software vendor (3com) via email and explain your problem see if they can help.
