My bro in law has just bought a digital camera for the impending arrival of his new sprog. I mentioned he might be able to connect it to his pc and burn to dvdr, but thought I should check how easy it is before I let him buy a dvd burner and firewire card.
The camera is a JVC GRDX25E (in case any knows of it!) and it has a fire wire output. What format do they usually output? Would it be mpeg2? Presumably it literally copies over the dv file to the hard drive? Would he still need to re-encode it to dvd-r or would whatever dvd-r software be able to author it pretty quickly?
He's only got a 600mhz Celeron, which would cause problems if it needs fully re-encoding.....
Thanks!
