Hi,
Was wondering if anybody could recommend media that will write at x2 for my TEAC W-50E DVD-R/W writer. I have tried several types including Monarch x2, Red GoGo x2, Aladin - Media (not sure speed) silver top x2 rated discs ....all record at x2 on the Pioneer A05 /105, my friend has this drive and it is basically the same unit as my Teac. However, they all only record at x1 on my Teac?? all of the discs used above have burned without a problem on the drive over 50 copies not one failure....but I would like to burn faster than 1x without having to keep trying various shops n media to get the right x2 discs
I have tried pioneer x4 gen purpose discs and they def burn at 4x speed without a problem. However they ain't that cheap at the moment as they cost around £2 buying over 25.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi.
i have Teac DV-W50E, too. I could say that i have burnt at 2x without problems these brands : Sony, TDK, Fujifilm, Verbatim and That's Write. But i have also found that the possibility to write at 2x depends also to the burning program. I have done a try with 2 Imation's dvd-r : with Nero 5.5.10.20 i have written 1 dvd at 1x while the other with Alcohol 120% v1.4.0 at 2x !
A thing, i haven't hacked the firmware of the Teac to be able to write at 2x with cheap medias . This is my little help... sorry... -
Thanks for replying,
I gave up trying to write at 2x speed on the teac. However, I found a store that sells really cheap 4x speed DVD silvertops at £1.00 each. Cheap as chips...burnt over 40 discs with these at 4x and only one error...lol I broke the damn disc dropped it and then stood on it ..DUH!
I have also not tried to hack the firmware....no point now that 4x discs are becoming so cheap. 4x discs that work on my teac are poineer...datawrite and zero defex and the good ol silver tops.
