    Hello,

I'm very new to capture cards, etc. I have an older one (STB PCI Tuner Card) that I use, and it works fine.. but I would like a card that captures video, as well as includes tv-out.

I just purchased an ATI All In Wonder Pro 8mb Capture Card. The chip on the underside reads "3D Rage Pro AGP 2x". I purchased it on Ebay and the seller said it worked with a PC. When I try to insert it, the little spaces in the card don't match up to the spaces in the PCI slot. Are there different types of cards that fit in different PCs? How do I go about solving this problem? What can I do?

I have a Hewlett Packerd with WinXP, and most of my settings are in my profile.

Any help or advice you can give me, would be most appreciated.

    Thanks, Michelle

It's an AGP slot card. Not PCI. Your computer may have ONE slot, and most likely its the top one IF you have one.

It's not a PCI card is an AGP card. If your mother board have a brown slot then you need to put the card in it, if not your are out of luck.

EDIT: txpharoah posted when I was writing this.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I did see a brown slot when I tried inserting it earlier. I will try to insert it and let you know what happens.

    Thanks, Michelle

I tried reinserting the card in the brown slot, but it still does not match up. I tried it on my other computer as well, and this brown slot differs slightly from the other, but it still did not match up. Could it be some sort of problem with the way Hewlett Packard designed their computers?

    Thanks, Michelle

Do you happen to know a good PCI card that supports video capture, as well as tv out? Any info would be most appreciated.

    Thanks, Michelle

Do you have a CompUSA near you in Florida. If you do they carry an assortment of TV Tuner/Capture Cards. If budget is not a problem go for an All In Wonder series, graphics card-Tv Tuner/capture Card 7500AIW/8500AIWDV/9700AIW Pro or the 9800AIW Pro (Best Buy and Circuit City carries these as well). I have the 8500 and 9700 pro cards and like them both. If you are on a budget the best card I found packaged with the best and easest software to use is the I/O Magic PC PVR (Repackaged Pinnacle) that comes with Power VCR II software. About $30.00. Easy to use. This is just a TV Tuner/Capture card. I have installed this card in 4 of my sytems without problems. The drivers on disk are not for XP. Go to their site and get the update. Also is supported by EPG (Electronic Programmiong Guide). Allows you to be away, acts like a regular VCR. Good luck.

ATI makes some All In Wonder PCI cards too.

If you want a truly excellent card, that is PCI, and you have $1K to spend, grab yourself a Matrox RTX100. WOW! Now THAT'S a card. Look it up at matrox.com
