  1. I have a DVD player that does not support SVCD. Can I force it with a program of some kind?

  2. Solscud007: Well try the header trick first & see what happens. vitualis you living in australia you get the asian dvd players. Where as if you live in the us you usually get a dvd player that may play svcd's but set in its firmware not to, but that same asian model can recognize svcd. I have a sony model which is like this, but with the header trick it plays svcd's beautifully with the header trick. Will

  3. Um... the header trick makes an XVCD. I don't really consider that as: "Can I force it with a program of some kind?" but it's a good suggestion.

If your player doesn't play SVCDs, then it doesn't play SVCDs. Updating the firmware **may** change that but I wouldn't count on it.

  4. Unless it has a hack it is not possible. You see some posts about altering the power supply to the disc drawer but that's just a load of cack. Apparently I can do that on my old school panasonic A-160 buy looking for the yellow wire turning some screws and then hitting it with a hammer....but I don't think I will try that.

  5. Well if the original model was designed to play a svcd, but just not the US version than by making the header trick I don't really agree with you on it being a xvcd. Since the machine is and was designed to originally play svcd's. For example in my owners manual for my sony dvd player it tells about all of the features for a svcd then with a asterick next to it , it sais for asian-oceania models only... I do see your point if the player was not originally designed to play svcd's ..youd be making it a xvcd. But either way Solscud007 should try the header trick...Will
