I have a hunch that conflicts between these may be causing my problems in some conversion/authoring apps (specifically, DVD MovieFactory 2 and TMPGEnc). Anything stick out in this list which is likely to be the culprit? Any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

(I know that a fresh install of Windows might help here, but I don't have the two weeks of downtime it would take -- based on my experience the last time I did it -- to get everything working again.)

I've had problems with ATI and Ligos codecs in the past. They occured during playback of mpeg2 files, when using Microsoft's Media Player. It's probably something between those two.

  3. This may or may not be helpful, but I've used it when I wanted to limit the codecs that could be used: VCSwap

Hot swap codecs in a second. Could help isolate the problem.
