I'm wondering how you are getting 4.5GB on one DVD-R! That is some serious overburning!

It depends on how big you think a gig is!

    If 1 Gig = 1024 Mbytes and 1Meg = 1024 Kbytes etc, a DVD holds 4.3 Gigs

    If 1 Gig = 1000 Mbytes and 1 Meg = 1000 Kbytes etc a DVD holds 4.7 Gig.

Unfortunatley, the drive manufacturers always use the 2nd of those calculations.

So Hard disk drive and optical disk drive manufacturers don't live in the real computer world! It's funny, I had the obviously incorrect comprehension that these manufacturers knew a little about computers, silly me

    Thats very gracious of you.

BTW what is this 'real computer world' you speak of, as you obviously know so much about the subject.

I assume by 4.5 gigs he means 4500 megabytes, so in -his- world a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes but a gigabyte is 1000 megabytes! weird.
