  1. i have a 4 svcd movie that i downloaded, i will keep it nameless as it may be against the rules to talk about downloaded movies (correct me if i'm wrong), well anyways, i need to know how to convert these 4 svcds into dvd+r format, merge them, and burn them (with chapters). Or merge, convert and burn with chapters (whichever works better).

I've done it before with this same movie but my final result didn't work in my dvd player, it skipped a lot and the audio didn't even play. I think it's becuase i used Nero, but i'm probably wrong, i've used ULEAD dvd moviefactory 2 to make other things and it worked perfectly for my player, so could i just use that? If i can't, please let me know.

  2. Is it really necessary to put The Two Towers on DVD... It's coming out in August.

All joking aside... combine the files in TMPGENC using the Merge and Cut portion of the mpeg tolls section. Then change the header to fool the player into thinking the resolution is 352X480 instead of 480X480 (DVD specs are either 352 or 720). If you do a search in forums you will find what Im talking about.

Or since you've got all that space for a dvd you could re-encode with TMPGENC to full DVD res(720X480). I would do it using Variable Bit Rate (VBR) Ulead should be able to handle it. Remember Audio for a DVD has to be at 48khz as opposed to SVCD which is at 44.1 khz

    Good Luck

you also need to upsample the audio to 48Khz.

    Anyway from the lhs menu:

  4. well, i tried part of that, i did merge the files with tmpg, but when i merged the 4 together, the a/v was out of sync, like by about 3-5 seconds... i don't know why that happened... i did get it to work, i just plopped the 4 files into ULEAD DVD Moviefactory 2, and clicked go, this was at around 7:30 am (pacific) yesterday 4-29-03, and it finished like 12:00am today so it took me about 40 hrs to do it, but it worked, the only problem is there are 4 titles in the dvd+r, so when it gets to a certain point in the movie about every 45 minutes, it does a little 2 second skip to mvoe to the next title.

this is honestly good enough for me because i don't want to reencode it again because it'll take like another 2 days or whatever, if anyone knows a sure way to do this (not tmpg because i already tried that) i'm open to suggestions... and yes it is necessary because i have no use for my dvd burner until i get a dv camcorder so its just sitting there, might as well burn some stuff.
